Research has proved that the Stuiben Falls can have positive effects on your health

Heading towards a sporty and healthy life with Tirol's highest waterfall

Umhausen, located at the heart of the Tirolean Ötztal Valley, probably could become a hot spot in the field of health tourism. The renowned Stuiben Falls in Umhausen have many positive effects for persons suffering from asthma. Additionally, the mighty Stuiben Falls could also increase the physical fitness of all sportsmen!

Ötztal Tourismus and the local authorities of Umhausen commissioned the "Wasser Tirol - Wasserdienstleistungs-GmbH" association to compare the results of a research held at the Krimler Waterfalls with a similar study taking place at the Stuiben Falls. The studies of Salzburg's Paracelsus University proved hat the water particles in the air have soothing effects for asthmatics, increasing considerably their quality of life. Furthermore, the waterfall could also have positive effects on all sportsmen by improving their respiratory and pulmonary functions. The lower Ötztal could become an internationally renowned center for high altitude training camps. In the coming three weeks mice are used for further research: they spend one hour per day at the waterfalls and their physical condition will be checked afterwards.

Economic boom in the region around Umhausen.

If the results of the research are positive the entire region around Umhausen could experience an economical boom in the field of health tourism. Ötztal's accommodation providers, physicians and sports centers have already started focusing on this new economic factor. The future "Health Tourism" will stand for top-level holidays and premium quality accommodations in the Ötztal.
